I’m a bit of crank about the right answer to the question: “What has improved the quality of life the most for humans?” Since pretty clearly the answer is Public Health.

What’s sad is how weird insurance companies behave.
For instance, they impose requirements on swimming pool operators that force them to evacuate INDOOR pools of swimmers when thunderstorms are nearby. The JCC pool on the UWS of Manhattan has such a rule.
