"Google isn't acting like a real business, they are acting like an over-enthusiastic Golden Retriever puppy. Oh, they just knocked the vase off the table with their tail, but aren't they cute? Um, no. Google, grow up." -- http://onotech.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_onotech_archive.html#113200904055483341

The game isn't over yet. I've had GA deployed on one of my sites for 48 hours and I have yet to see a single report. If this level of non-quality continues, there'll still be room for others to play in this space.

multiple games all interfering with each other

"but by pursuing their strategy of ‘borging’ every little market they might be creating a bigger problem for themselves.

there is also another risk.

By leaving nothing on the table for their complentor's it will force their complementors into the arms of their competitors.

Disenchanted developers actively choosing against the monopoly, and exluding the monopoly in discussions which will make up the next wave, or making decisions in other markets where the monopoly is weaker.

If I were microsoft or yahoo right now I'd be courting all those companies with revenue sharing deals to drive traffic to them, and If I were 'mint/technorati' or someone I would be dropping my gmail & orkut accounts and switching over to yahoo's search and it's API's.

IMHO is in a different position then where microsoft was in the 90's. It is streched into several different markets at the same time, and pissing off the encumbents of each of them. If the encumbents of those markets wake up and partner together Google will fail.
